Toshl Finance - Best Budget App Reviews

I dont like change, so I was not awfully excited by the new app. But it has turned out fine. Yes it seems like more work and is somewhat confusing at first, but I like the overall feel. The old app was easier to maneuver and at be a better call if you only want something simple though.

Simplicity is gone and its hard to enter in expenses quickly. All I need is a simple app to enter expenses and keep a running total for the month, which the old toshl did well. I will stick with the old app for now.

Simpler to use, its free, like the graph and chart and has Web based presence. Couldnt ask for more.

The new look is great but, the main point - simplicity - is gone.

I like the new interface and being able to add more than one income with a free account. Keep up the good work!

The updated app / interface is a bit confusing and overwhelming at first. Once you get used to it, its pretty powerful, e.g., the addition of categories to the existing tag system.

I am certainly not a fan of the new version of the app. Toshl used to be a perfectly simple, and easy to use app...but latest version is far too complicated to use. You are now forced to groups tags into categories. In the old version you simply enter you expense , tag it, and BAM that is it. Also, I have attempted to create a weekly budget (that does not start on Monday...hello some budgets need to start on Friday) and sync the budget to my iPhone. On my iPhone the budget is still telling me that I am over budget because my budget is recording my spending as on Monday. Also, and maybe this is just me. How can I be under in my weekly budget, and over in my monthly budget (when I did not set up a Monthly budget)

It takes a little getting used to but its a very powerful piece of software. I think people feel intimidated by the flexibility of it. Also it looks very pretty. And another thing is that its the only free one Ive found that actually syncs very nicely across all platforms! The little creatures are a nice touch. The world needs more humor.

I understand the developer trying to create a unique finance app that looks different and more creative than those same looking other apps in the app store but sadly its the case where form doesnt follow function, the UI design is just very convoluted for an average user. It makes me "think too much" when using it causing unnecessary cognitive load to my brain and ended up being not fun at all and tedious to use for me personally. I think any app really need to be fast, clear with good touch target size, simple minimal UI (not hey, look at how cool i am UI design), without needing users to go through tons of tutorials and guides to understand the app and waiting forever for the web app to load. The moment you need to explain your UI so much, you know it is not good or simple enough. I withhold my comments for few months (in beta) thinking it might be just me and my knee jerk reaction to change and keep using it to give it a fair run, but sadly until today i still think its confusing to use and no longer as fun as the old but much simpler version. In fact, the truly "fun" and delightful finance app in the AppStore now is Pennies, though it has much less features but it works wonderfully and a joy to use with it simplicity but yet maintaining a distinct personality compared to the typical boring finance app. I still give Toshl two stars for the developer hard work and effort to make a unique finance app and i still be using it with subscription but I am just sad now that it has completely lost its original appeal to me 3 years ago

Ive been long waiting for this update and I would like to congratulate you guys for the new app. The app got a lot more robust, beautiful (except for the left menu..) and comprehensive. It did got more complex, even though I believe it did more good than bad. The months view got a lot better and the categories help getting things more organized than using only tags. I still use tags, though, and I really would like to have a way to easily filter expenses and incomes by tags, as before. Using the search bar only alows to search a singe tag at a time. I would like to see the expenses/incomes related to each tag on a simple list. Thats all for now! Keep the good work :)

Simple to use....i can enter all expenses & track without being too complicated! Tried other apps but always ended up coming back to this.

Great app! Easy to customize and well worth the upgrades. Very impressed!

This second version took me some time to get used to because the user interface is very different from the initial one. But once mastered, it felt just as good.

Love the new functionalities. Except somewhere in syncing it keeps glitching out on me: syncing deleted budgets back in, new budgets have disappeared and a few expenses that wont permanently edit or delete. Frustrating. It could be so awesome if it would only work!

I really wanted to like this app. Really I did. Its looks really pretty but thats about it. I find it hard to learn and not intuitive!! Even emails from support didnt help and were confusing! Update 2/16/16: support doesnt reply in a timely fashion. When they do reply their replies are unclear due to language issues. After sending two emails to support and getting no replies, I sent them a message via Twitter. I got a email back saying I was harassing them!

Ive tried a lot of apps and this one is fantastic.

Bad design, confusing interface but good concept. Just get a better designer.

I used the previous version of this app to great success. However, this new redesigned version lacks some basics. Like the window slides over to reveal the crucial fields to access and edit expenses, but it doesnt slide over all the way and obscures what youre looking at. Cant quite see everything. For such an upgrade, this is a huge thing to overlook.

Simply the best!

2.0 is a great update! Keep the bug fixes coming.
